The Company has been working on the technical, environmental, legal and financial structuring of the projects. Hidroarma has been working on the development of the Project for several years and has recently updated basic engineering studies and feasibility studies, including hydraulic, geological, geotechnical and detailed seismic surveys, as well as to study environmental impact and detailed design of roads and bridges, power line construction to 33 kV and storage areas, all these necessary for the Project construction. The studies are based on a hydrology study conducted in 1997, which was updated in 2010 and 2012. The feasibility designs were reviewed by the consulting firm Integral S.A. in 2000, a reputed and renowned Colombian engineering company with significant experience in the development of hydroelectric plants.
Hidroarma has environmental licensing of projects and approval of environmental flow levels by the competent authorities. It has 92% of the land required for construction of plants (including access roads, areas for environmental compensation, deposit areas, camps, etc.). The Areas of Direct Influence (AID) Projects were declared as “area of public utility and social interest” by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) in 2012 and 2014. The line connection to STN (Transmission System national) is pending approval before the UPME (Mining-Energy Planning Unit).
The Project comprises two run-of-river hydro plants, each with an underground powerhouse and two Pelton turbines
